One of Many Success Stories:
An ILCSC client started the Training House program in January 2015. He enrolled in the following classes: Office Simulation/Work Adjustment, ILS, Money Management, Functional Computers, Horticulture, Cooking and Meal Planning, and Coping with Stress in the Workplace. He later volunteered at the ILCSC Service Office as an Office Assistant to gain current work experience. He expressed that the classes and volunteering were beneficial to him in becoming job ready. In winter of 2016 he obtained a seasonal position as an Electronic Associate, just a few years after experiencing his accident. He was excited about working again and interacting with the public as a professional. The opportunity helped him assess his capabilities, and put into perspective his goals and support in determining suitable employment in the future. He served as a peer mentor for other clients, sharing his achievements, and assisting others in any way he could, from resume writing to being a listening ear. Presently his determination landed him a job as a security guard. He feels very accomplished in how far he has come since his accident, and wants to continue to help others and give back to the community in any way he can.
